Barnet 233 all out
Wycombe House 169-9

WINNING DRAW TO BARNET

BARNET came desperately close to winning their second match of the season last Saturday but were unable to take the final wicket which would have seen them climbing the league table to relative safety. Despite having 12 overs to capture the last 2 wickets of a demoralised Wycombe House, Barnet were simply unable to gain the win that their cricket deserved.

Put into bat Barnet lost an early wicket but ANOOJ VADGAMA (30) and FARON DeFREITAS (39) steadied the ship and took the score to 65 before Vadgama was out, caught behind. The fireworks then really started as captain BAQAR RIZVI (128) batted magnificently and proceeded to hammer the ball to all corners of the ground. His 50 came off only 30 balls and his century took 89 balls. He scored 128 of the 155 runs that were scored whilst he was at the wicket and lifted the art of batting to a new and enviable level. His brutal batting allowed Barnet to finish on 233 after 50 overs and set Wycombe House a difficult target for victory.

Wycombe House made a good start and raced to 55 off only 12 overs. They then gradually succomed to the left arm spin of SAMI HAIDER (5-46 in 20 accurate overs) and the orthodox off spin of WAQAS SHAFFIQUE (4-29). Although wickets fell regularly, the tail proved resistant and a disappointed Barnet had to settle for a winning draw.

Barnet 2nd XI had an impressive 5 wicket win against Ickenham on Saturday.
Ickenham 244-9 (dec) : Barnet 248-5 (SEAN BELL 61 n.o.).
Barnet 3rd XI had a winning draw against Ickenham.
Barnet 312-5 (dec) : Ickenham 185-9.
