News High data rates are achieved on wired networks through optical fibers. With Wi-Fi we are limited to Mbs only, so if light can help out in getting Giga bits per second, how about installing a wireless optical network without optical fiber?

A student-teacher duo, Jarir Fadlullah and Mohsen Kavehrad, at Penn State University have built and tested an experimental system that uses reflected infrared light instead of radio waves and has transmitted data through the air at a speed of one gigabit per second--six to 14 times faster than the fastest Wi-Fi network.  Their setup sent data across a room by…..
