On our 2nd day of Istanbul, 24th February 2015, after visiting Hagia Sofia, we visited Great Palace Mosaic Museum at 11:26am. It didn’t come up to our expectations. Its small with some dim colored mosaics, although the mosaics are very old and huge efforts have been done to repair them but there are so many other amazing places in Turkey that time should be spent visiting it unless you are really into mosaics and the history of Great Palace.

- 9am – 5pm (in-season)
Ticket: 10 TL (Included in Museum Pass)
Time Required: 1hr
Located inside an active bazaar, the Mosaic Museum was created when the a section of a large courtyard from Constantine's Great Palace was discovered under some shops. The first series of mosaics were found in 1933, but when they found more in 1950 they made 16 shops in the Bazaar close and started the museum. Even though they date back to 450AD, many of the mosaics are in remarkable condition and have a unique use of shading for mosaics that are so old.
