Attractions/Places to Visit/See in Madina, Saudi Arabia–Tour/Travel Guide (Updated)

Medina was the power base of Islam in its first century, being where the early Muslim community (ummah) developed under the Prophet's leadership, then under the leadership of the first four caliphs of Islam.
In fact, Year 1 of the Islamic calendar is based on the year of the emigration (or Hijra (هِجْرَة)) of Muhammad SAW and his followers (Muhajirun) from Makkah to the city of Medina in 622 AD/1 AH.
Madina is home to the three oldest mosques in Islam, namely Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet's Mosque), Quba Mosque (the first mosque in Islam's history), and Masjid al-Qiblatain (The Mosque of the Two Qiblahs - the mosque where the direction of Muslim prayer, or qiblah, was switched from Jerusalem to Makkah).

2. Mount Auhad (Jabal e Auhad)

It is 1,077 m (3,533 ft) high. It was the site of the second battle between Muslim and Makkah forces. The Battle of Uhud was fought on 19 March, 625, between a force from the small Muslim community of Medina, in what is now north-western Arabia, and a force from Makkah.

4. Seven Masajid, Masjid e Fatah, Gazva e Khandaq (Battle of the Trench)

The Battle of the Trench was a fortnight-long siege of Madina by Muslims. The strength of the confederate armies is estimated around 10,000 men with six hundred horses and some camels, while the Madinan defenders numbered 3,000. The battle began on March 31, 627.
The largely outnumbered defenders of Madina led by Muhammad SAW, dug a trench, which together with Madina's natural fortifications, rendered the confederate cavalry (consisting of horses and camels) useless, locking the two sides in a stalemate. The well-organized defenders, the sinking of confederate morale, and poor weather conditions caused the siege to end in a fiasco.
The siege was a "battle of wits", in which the Muslims tactically overcame their opponents while suffering very few casualties. Efforts to defeat the Muslims failed, and Islam became influential in the region. The defeat caused the Makkahian to lose their trade and much of their prestige.[4]

5. Masjid Qiblatain

Masjid al-Qiblatain (Mosque of the two Qiblas) is the place where Muhammad SAW, leading the prayer, had been commanded to change the direction of prayer (qibla) from Jerusalem to Makkah. Thus it uniquely contained two prayer niches (mihrabs). Recently the mosque was renovated; the old prayer niche facing Jerusalem was removed, and the one facing Makkah was left.
The Qiblatain Mosque is among the three earliest mosques in Islam's history, along with Quba Mosque and Al-Masjid al-Nabawi.

This valley has Gravity Mountains. A gravity or magnetic hill is a place where a slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope due to the layout of the surrounding land, creating the optical illusion that water flows uphill or a car left out of gear will roll uphill, among others.
