How to move the BlackBerry 10 cursor to a specific location

Post Type :

BB10-Cursor

A friend of mine recently upgraded from a BlackBerry 9900 to a BlackBerry Q10. One of the first questions she asked me was how to move the cursor to a specific location since her new device doesn’t have a track pad.

The answer: it’s really easy! Provided you are using BlackBerry 10.1 OS, all you need to do is tap an area you’d like to edit, and move the cursor to a specific location when it appears.

Follow these steps:

  • Tap the top of the circle to move the cursor up one line.
  • Tap the bottom of the circle to move the cursor down one line.
  • Tap the left of the circle to move to the left, one character at a time.
  • Tap the right of the circle to move to the right, one character at a time.

In the event that you do not have a circular cursor, verify that your BlackBerry 10 smartphone is using BlackBerry 10.1 OS. To check your version from the home screen, select Settings, About and look for the OS Version. For help upgrading a BlackBerry 10 smartphone, visit http://blackberry.com/update

'Unlocked' Android Runtime for BlackBerry 10 leaked

So, with a title like that you're probably wondering what exactly an 'Unlocked Android Runtime' is. Well, the Android runtime on BlackBerry 10 has certain limitations placed on it by BlackBerry so that they can control what things can and cannot be done within the Android environment. In the past, folks who sideloaded had to make use of debug tokens in order to get Android sideloads running better but no more.

With this version of the Android runtime, the limitations have been removed and apps that previously worked better with a debug token no longer need them. Long story short, this will improve how your Android apps run and it reduces some of the hassle involved with sideloading Android apps onto your BlackBerry 10 device. The file itself consists of two .bar files, which you'll need to sideload using your preferred method.

Like all things, you do this at your own risk. Although it's been tested by various folks before release, it is in no way official and we're not responsible for what happens with your device should you decide to load it. As for supported devices, all BlackBerry 10.2 devices are supported here including all you STL100-1 users. Have questions? Looking for the download? Head on into the CrackBerry Forums for more info.

Leaked OS 10.2.0.1323 for the BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q5 and BlackBerry Q10

Fancy testing out a new leak this weekend? If so, you can now grab OS 10.2.0.1323 for most BlackBerry 10 devices with the exception of the STL100-1 variation of the BlackBerry Z10. As always, you have to keep in mind that this is a leak and not all things may work as expected. If you're not cool with that, then likely best you pass on this. If you're fine with that, read the disclaimer below and dive on in.

Standard you can't blame us disclaimer - use caution when installing a leaked OS like this and remember if you break your phone it's not our fault. Also, a good idea to make a backup because you're essentially performing a factory restore on your device. If you don't want to lose data, a backup is needed. You'll need a Windows PC to install these files and If it goes downhill, remember you can always wipe and restore your device.

PS: Before you ask, what's new? What's changed? How's the battery life? Is it any good? Should I load this? Why do I wanna load this? Be sure to read the forum thread, it has a known issues list. :)
