Previously, Muslims coming to Saudi Arabia on Umrah Visa were restricted to visit only 3 cities: Makkah, Madina and Jeddah. As per the above news, now they will have the option to visit other places in Saudi Arabia as well.

As this is a new option and it's the 1st time such option has been introduced in KSA thus details are not available yet but a person working in Saudi Tourism has informed me the following:

At the moment, you can apply for Umrah Visa with Tourist Extension through the travel/umrah agent in your country. He should have all the details. He will do all processing, which would include:

  • Applying for visa with tourist extension
  • Arrangement of tour for places you want to visit
  • Reservation of hotels etc.

Usually, Umrah Visa is for 14 to 21 days, this is not confirmed yet if same days will be counted or they will extend the visa for 30 to 60 days.

Later on, an online option to apply for this visa will be made available. It is under process with Saudi Tourism at the moment. Once available, it will make the whole process very simple and quick.

Saudi Arabia is full of historical places and some amazing tourist destinations. This will be a great option for Muslims around the globe to visit/explore those places. Some such places are shown in the link below:

Such visa can also be a good option for visiting relatives residing in KSA but as the motivation of Saudi Government is to promote tourism thus some restrictions might be applied.
